Exciting news for our visitors! This week, we've welcomed a new orphaned Swainson's Hawk to our center. These remarkable birds are hatching in the thousands across Western Canada. Adult Swainson's Hawks play a crucial role in controlling ground squirrel populations, much to the delight of local farmers.
What's truly extraordinary is that within just 75 days, this young hawk will grow to resemble the one pictured on the right and will embark on a 20,000km long migratory journey to South America in mid-September. They must mature quickly in just 90 days—it's truly a race for survival!
