FortisAlberta Flying Field

Every 90 minutes we exercise our birds with live flying demonstrations that visitors are invited to watch. Red-tailed hawks and Bald Eagles from our Eagle Courtyard are flown each day (weather permitting) to keep them in excellent physical condition. 

FortisAlberta is committed to protecting migratory birds and raptors while keeping your lights on safely. A group of demonstration power poles situated beside the flying field illustrates different contact mitigation devices that are put in place to reduce the risk of birds coming into contact with energized wires and equipment in urban and rural areas. These devices prevent real-world electrical outages and fires as well as protect countless birds from electrocution and death.
