Artificial Nests

Around our site we have over 100 different artificial nest boxes for a variety of wild bird species like, Tree Swallows, House Wrens, Black-capped Chickadees, Northern Flickers, American Kestrel Falcons, and more! These nest boxes were generously sponsored by FortisAlberta and built by local company, Prairie Bird Nest Boxes.
 

Providing artificial nest boxes, along with natural habitat enhancements, ensures wild species have access to safe and reliable nesting and roosting sites, which are often in short supply due to loss of natural habitat and competition from invasive species.
 

While walking our shoreline pathways, you may also see several duck nesting tubes scattered throughout our ponds. These nesting tubes were built by our staff to provide safe nesting sites for native waterfowl like Mallard ducks.
